Safety & Trust

How we keep them safe

The people we send into your parents' home are chosen as carefully as we'd choose for our own.

Background checks

Every companion is required to pass reference and identity checks before their first visit. We speak to people who have worked with them, not just read a CV. Nobody is sent to meet your parents until we would be comfortable sending them to our own.

No cash handling

Companions never handle your money directly. Payments are digital or go straight to the vendor, and receipts are attached to the visit report. That removes the awkwardness for everyone — your parents are never asked for cash at the door.

Documented, every time

Every visit is logged and documented. Where Mum or Dad is comfortable and consent has been provided, photos may be included in the family update. Photos are never required as proof of care.

One accountable person

Your family gets a consistent companion, not a rotating cast of strangers. You'll speak with them directly before their first visit and decide whether it feels right. Familiarity is the whole point — for your parents and for you.

Escalation, always

If something's wrong, mishandled, or just doesn't feel right, there's a direct line to us — not a support ticket queue. We'd far rather hear about a small discomfort early than a serious problem late.

Insurance

Appropriate cover for the service is being finalised and will be confirmed here before it's needed. We'd rather tell you exactly where we are than imply cover we don't yet hold.

Every family has a profile

Before regular support begins, we document the things that matter: relevant contact details, medical and dietary preferences, routines, who to call and in what order. Nothing important should depend on someone remembering it.

Visit records

Visits and important requests are recorded, so there's always a clear account of what happened, when, and what was asked for. If a question comes up months later, the record answers it.

Family communication

Families receive updates after visits and can raise a concern directly, any time — not only when something has gone wrong. You never have to wait for a scheduled review to ask a question.

Privacy

Parent and family information is treated confidentially. Details are shared only with the people who need them to do the work, and never used for anything beyond looking after your family.

Emergency escalation

Every family agrees an escalation plan during onboarding. If something urgent happens, companions follow the agreed procedure, contact appropriate emergency or professional services when necessary, and keep the family informed.

Gedara does not replace emergency services. In an immediate emergency, appropriate local emergency assistance should be contacted without avoidable delay.

Where our role ends

Medical boundary

Gedara is a companionship and family-support service and is not an emergency medical or nursing service. When professional medical support is required, Gedara can help families coordinate with appropriate qualified providers.
